Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has threatened to revoke road contracts from firms that fail to meet contractual specifications.
He made this known at the second interactive session with contractors handling different road and other projects awarded by the State Government across the Local Government Areas of the State.
The Urban Renewal Programme of the State Government was flagged off in September 2023 in Minna before the subsequent award of other township road projects.
The Governor pointed out that, despite the gradual approach of wet season that could trigger floods, roads in many communities have been cleared but drainages and earhtwork have not been done.
Governor Bago revoked a contract for lack of capacity, issued a warning to another firm and gave June deadline to contractors to complete their work.
He said henceforth, Government would only release funds to contractors that executed appreciable work.
The Governor urged the contractors to allow free flow of traffic at the site they operate.
Some of the Contractors who appreciated the State for giving them the opportunity to work, advanced the issues of non payment of compensation, insecurity and finance for their delay.
