The President Africa School of Governance Professor Kingsley Moghalu, says governance education is critical to the growth of democracy.
Prof Moghalu made the remark at a Strategic Dialogue on Governance Education in Africa, organized by the
Alumni Association of the National Institute, AANI, in collaboration with the African School of Governance in Abuja.
He explained that this would wake up the citizens to be able to demand good governance as well as those who would be in positions of leadership.
Moghalu observed that most of the governance problems in African countries are anchored around culture.
“So governance education needs to be innovative enough to be able to bring these two aspects of our reality together. The second problem is that culture needs to be adapted to modernity also, while we retained the core of who we are” he stressed
Moghalu explained that the African school of governance, is a new University for public policy to train the next generation of Africa’s leaders, founded by the Presidents of Rwanda and Ethiopia Paul Kagame and Haile Mariam respectively.
On his part, the President of the Alumni Association of the National Institute, AANI, Ambassador Emmanuel Obi-Okafor, stated that the dialogue presents a unique opportunity for the participants to share experiences, explore innovative solutions, and foster partnerships that promote good governance and leadership in Africa.
