The Chairperson of the Nigerian Governors’ Spouses Forum, Professor Olufolake Abdulrazaq has reaffirmed the Forum’s commitment to keeping Water, Sanitation and Hygiene high on the agenda of all states.
Speaking at the 2025 National Sanitation Conference, Professor Abdulrazaq described sanitation as a matter of dignity and water as a matter of life.
She commended the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation for convening the event and praised development partners including the World Bank, UNICEF, WaterAid, Sightsavers, Harpic, DBN, and Self-Help Africa for their support in advancing hygiene and sanitation initiatives nationwide.
She highlighted Kwara State’s achievements under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, including major investments in potable water, construction of public toilets, and the declaration of Oke-Ero Local Government Area as Open Defecation Free.
She also pointed to projects empowering women and children through gender-friendly sanitation facilities, menstrual hygiene management, solar-powered boreholes, and provision of hygiene materials in schools and communities.
She further cited partnerships with CAFOD in London to support local communities with environmental cleanups, water access, and sanitation infrastructure.
Professor Abdulrazaq expressed gratitude for the award received at the conference and pledged the state’s continued commitment to promoting clean, safe, and dignified living for all residents.
