Government at all levels have been urged to implement all laws on violence against girls child to safeguard their rights in the society.
Special Adviser on Education to Ogun state governor, Dr. Ronke Soyombo made the call at the review and launch of a book authored by Dr.Zainab Balogun titled “Safeguarding the Girl Child Against Societal Vices in Ilorin, Kwara state.
She said the girl child is faced with numerous challenges that requires urgent attention adding that strategy should be put in place to safeguard the girl child from all forms of abuse by unsuspecting individuals.
Dr. Soyombo explained that implementation of the laws would ensure adequate punishment for culprits and deter would be offenders.
In her remarks the Kwara state Commissioner for women Affairs, Mrs Afolashade Opeyemi who was represented by the Director Child, Hajiya Alabi Idiat said the state government has put in place formidable laws to protect the girl child at all time.
She assured that the state government would continue to give priority to safeguarding the girl child against all forms of violations.
Earlier in her address, the author of the book titled “Safeguarding the Girl Child Against Societal Vices, Dr. Zainab Balogu said her passion for better life and better care for the girl child propelled her interest in writing the book.
She also appealed to government to put in place adequate provision to safeguard the girl child in the society.
