The Senate has been called upon to revert Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension and reconstitute a committee to conduct proper investigative hearing to salvage the image of the tenth Senate.
A youth leader, Prince Kennedy Ahanotu, made the call at a news conference in Abuja
Prince Ahanotu described the hasty decision by the Senator Neda Imasuen led Committee to suspend Natasha as unfair and short of international best practices where everyone has equal rights to fair hearing on an issue.
The Youth Leader called for measures that would further protect the rights of Nigerian women towards ensuring a fair and better society.
“We demand that Senator Neda Imasuen be recused from the reconstituted Committee”.
“On the matter concerning the distinguished Senator Natasha, it has been observed that Senator Imasuen has not satisfactorily applied internationally accepted principles of fair hearing in making recommendations which led to the controversial suspension of distinguished Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan” he stressed.
He urged President Bola Tinubu to save the face of Nigeria in the Comity of Nations by speaking up against injustice.
“Mr. President must ensure that his government works to preserve the democratic principles of fairness and the rule of law.”
“We shall continue to speak despite the intimidating and threatening political environment in Nigeria.”
