Many people are feared dead and several others abducted following an attack on Okporojo Community in Oso Edda, Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday afternoon at about 4 p.m., when unidentified gunmen invaded the community, set houses ablaze and shot at residents.
Sources say more than five persons were allegedly beheaded, with the attackers taking away their heads. Several others were also reportedly abducted during the attack.
A video circulating online shows buildings engulfed in flames, as residents call on the Ebonyi State Government and security agencies for urgent intervention.
The violence is believed to be linked to a long-standing land dispute between Oso Edda in Edda Local Government Area and Amasiri in Afikpo Local Government Area, with both communities laying claim to ancestral ownership of the land.
As of the time of this report, the Ebonyi State Police Command and the State Government have yet to release an official statement on the incident.
