The Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives has rejected manual transmission of election results, insisting that electronic transmission should take precedence to prevent manipulation.
Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda, speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, said the caucus is firmly against any clause in the Electoral Act that could create loopholes for result tampering.
He emphasized that electronically transmitted results must override manual methods, ensuring transparency and credibility in the electoral process.
Chinda also reiterated the caucus’ commitment to Section 84 of the Electoral Act, which governs the internal selection of candidates by political parties, stressing that it should not be used to force direct or indirect primaries or consensus processes.
According to him, strict adherence to these provisions is crucial to maintain fairness within party structures and safeguard democratic integrity ahead of upcoming elections.
