The controversy surrounding the sudden death of Chief (Mrs) Shimite Winifred, Special Adviser to the Governor of Delta State on Trade and Export, took a new twist as her husband, Pastor David Favour Love, openly denied allegations linking him to her death.
Speaking at a news conference in Abuja, Pastor Love became emotional as he rejected social media reports accusing him of domestic violence.

According to him, his marriage to Winifred was lawful and solemnized on January 18 and 19, 2024, stressing that their relationship was built on mutual consent.
“I never forced her out of any relationship, The accusation against me is nothing but a political cover-up by some powers and even family members who are eager to take over her properties” he said firmly
While pointing to what he described as “suspicious circumstances” surrounding her death, Pastor Love called for a thorough probe.
“I suspect foul play in my wife’s death. I call on the Inspector-General of Police to properly investigate this matter. Her phone should be returned to me; it is my marital right. Everything that belonged to her should be handed over to me,” he stated.
The clergyman also alleged that political discrimination might have played a role in the tragedy.
“She once told me that they said she could not claim certain positions in Delta politics simply because she was not married to a Delta man,” he revealed.

Explaining why he did not take his wife to the hospital immediately, Pastor Love insisted she was “a very forceful and secretive woman” who never allowed herself to be compelled into anything against her wish.
“For now, the family and political circles in Delta State remain divided, with questions still hanging over the true circumstances of Winifred’s death” Pastor Love added.
