The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has approved the appointment of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anthony Placid as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
A statement by the outgoing FPRO, Benjamin Hundeyin, described Placid as a seasoned officer with extensive experience in administration, operations, intelligence, training, and international peacekeeping.
Born on December 2, 1970, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Placid holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Uyo and a Master’s degree in Law and Diplomacy from the University of Jos, in addition to studying Law at the National Open University of Nigeria.
He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1996 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and was commissioned in August 1998.
A graduate of the Senior Executive Course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Placid has served in several strategic positions within Nigeria and on international peacekeeping missions.
His appointment reflects the Police Force’s commitment to professional leadership and effective public communication in law enforcement and national security.
