The Kano State House of Assembly has dismissed reports alleging plans to impeach Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo.
In a statement the spokesperson for the Speaker of the Assembly, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, described the rumors as false and misleading.
Shawai clarified that there is no motion or initiative within the Assembly aimed at removing the Deputy Governor, urging the public and media to disregard the speculative reports.
He emphasized that such claims were fabricated to create unnecessary political tension in the state.
The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to good governance and oversight, stressing that it is focused on serving the people of Kano, not engaging in baseless political maneuvering.
The Deputy Governor, who has not commented on the impeachment rumors, continues to participate in official duties and public engagements.
The controversy follows a recent radio interview by the Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, who suggested the Deputy Governor resign over political differences.
Analysts believe the Assembly’s swift denial is an effort to calm political tensions and prevent public unrest.
