Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, alongside former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso and Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, led hundreds of mourners in paying their last respects to the late Managing Director of Kano State Refuse Management and Sanitation Board, REMASAB, Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago, popularly known as Dan Zago.
The Janaza prayer, held at the Emir’s palace, was a solemn affair, with dignitaries and residents of Kano State gathering to bid farewell to the departed leader.
Governor Yusuf, in a heartfelt tribute, described Alhaji Zago as a “dedicated public servant, a master political strategist, and a business mogul” who played a pivotal role in shaping Kano’s political landscape over the past 50 years.

He highlighted Zago’s impressive resume, which included stints as State Chairman of the defunct ANPP, Political Adviser to a former Governor, and Special Assistant to a former Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Governor Yusuf extended his condolences to the bereaved family and the people of Kano, praying for Allah’s mercy upon Zago’s departed soul.
The outpouring of grief from Kano’s top leaders and residents reflects the significant impact Alhaji Zago had on the state’s politics and development.
His legacy will undoubtedly be remembered for years to come.
The late Alhaji Zago, who passed away at 74 after a protracted illness, is survived by four wives, 37 children, and many grandchildren.
