The Kano state government has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the welfare of workers, following reports of disparities in salaries.
Secretary to the state government, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, stated this while briefing newsmen in Kano.
He said following outcry of civil servants on the salary discrepancies of the month of February, a committee was constituted to investigate the discrepancies and it report has been submitted to governor Abba Yusuf.
“His Excellency is closely working on the report with a view to take the next line of Action”
The Secretary to the state government noted that to avoid reoccurrence in subsequent months, collaboration has been enhanced between ministries and agencies to ensure adequate payment of salaries.
“To ensure prudent payment of the March Salaries a Coordinating committee has been set up and it headed by the State Head of Service Alhaji Abdullahi Musa and eight other members” he stressed.
He said salaries will be printed and submitted to ministries for scrutiny and also for the civil servants to verify before payment of the March Salaries.
Ibrahim added that civil servants who have not received salaries for four months, had refused to attend the verification exercise last year.
“The state government is committed to prudent and efficient salary payments, ensuring the welfare of its workers” he added
