The Kano State Police Command says adequate security measures are in place to prevent any potential breakdown of law and order in the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, in Kano.
The statement explains that the measures follows a credible intelligence reports which indicated a planned violent protest by some individuals.
According to the statement the Command has deployed personnel and assets to strategic locations within Kano Metropolis to prevent the protest and ensure public safety.
“As a result of these proactive measures, seventeen suspected thugs have been arrested and an investigation is ongoing.
It states that the Command is committed to ensuring that the perpetrators of this planned violence are brought to justice.
“The Command has warned all individuals and groups against engaging in any form of unlawful gathering, procession, or violence, stating that such actions will be met with swift and decisive response from the security agencies”
The statement urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the security agencies while appreciating the cooperation and support of the good people of Kano State in their efforts to maintain peace and order.
