Governor, of Katsina State Malam Dikko Umar Radda, has approved automatic employment for the best graduating students of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina, after their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.
The announcement was made at the 14th convocation ceremony of the university, where the governor was also conferred with an Honorary Doctorate in Public Administration.
Governor Radda emphasized that the decision was aimed at rewarding academic excellence and encouraging students to achieve the highest standards in their studies.
He directed the Head of Service to begin processing the employment of the best graduates, ensuring that merit and academic success are recognized.
In addition to the job offer, the governor introduced further incentives, including a ₦100,000 cash award for the best student in each department, and a brand-new vehicle for the overall best graduate.
He also approved funding for the accreditation of programs to meet both national and international standards and announced a salary increase for both academic and non-academic staff at the university.
The Vice-Chancellor of UMYU, Prof. Shehu Salihu Muhammad, highlighted the university’s growth, from 1,000 to over 20,000 students, and congratulated the 2,682 graduands, including 31 First Class degree holders.
The event was attended by numerous dignitaries, including lawmakers and traditional rulers, who celebrated the university’s achievements and the graduates’ perseverance.
Governor Radda urged the graduates to use their education to serve society, stressing that their knowledge should be used to positively impact communities and contribute to national development.
