Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies to enhance the protection of lives and property across the state.
The Governor gave the assurance while handing over two operational Toyota Hilux vehicles to the Nigeria Customs Service, Kebbi State Command, at Government House in Birnin Kebbi.

He said the gesture fulfills an earlier promise made after hoodlums vandalized the Tsamiya border post and destroyed Customs vehicles.
Governor Idris noted that the vehicles would strengthen the operational capacity of the Service and urged officers to use them judiciously, professionally, and proactively in carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for reopening the Tsamiya border in Bagudo Local Government Area, describing the move as a major boost to economic activities in the state.
The Governor assured continued collaboration with the Federal Government, Customs, and other security agencies to promote legal trade and ensure smooth movement of goods and persons across the border.

Receiving the vehicles, retired Deputy Comptroller General of Customs, Jibo Bello, thanked the Governor for fulfilling his promise and pledged that the vehicles would be deployed effectively to address operational challenges.
He warned against attempts by non-state actors to sabotage the initiative, emphasizing that any truck found outside the approved transit corridor would be seized.
The Customs chief added that the reopening of the Tsamiya border is aimed at facilitating trade, reducing transit bottlenecks, promoting economic prosperity in border communities, and strengthening national security.
