Minister of Interior, Doctor Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has directed an immediate and comprehensive investigation into the jailbreak at the Koton-Karfe Custodial Centre.
This is contained in a statement signed by his media advisor, Babatunde Alao, in Abuja.
The statement assures the public that all necessary measures are being taken to recapture the escaped inmates.
It emphasizes that the Nigerian Correctional Service will leverage its advanced biometrics and technological resources in the pursuit.
According to the statement the interior Minister, Doctor Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo also directed the Acting Comptroller General of the Service, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche to conduct an on-site assessment of the Kogi facility which will be followed by a thorough audit to pinpoint the root causes of the security breach.
