No fewer than 1,800 senior secondary school teachers are to be employed by Kwara state government to improve standard of education in the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of the state Teaching Service Commission,TESCOM, Mallam Bello Abubakar in Ilorin.
The statement says one hundred non-teaching staff and two hundred security guards would also be employed to promote safe school environment.
According to the statement emphasis would be given to rural areas where teachers are lacking stressing that all applicants will apply online and must have a university bachelor degree in education or a university degree in relevant subjects with a teaching certificate.
The statement explains that the recruitment exercise is essentially to bridge the human resource gap in the schools in the hinterlands.
It further points that teachers of STEM subjects will also be prioritised in the exercise which included required subject areas in Art and Commercial will also be indicated on the application portal.
The statement says shortlisted applicants will undergo drug tests in line with the focus of the state government to fight drug abuse and protect school children from the menace of drug abuse.
