Kwara State Residents Registration Agency KWASRRA, says it has so far employed about 300 youths and registered over 270,000 Kwarans in its continuous registration exercise to ensure effective service delivery.
The Acting General Manager of the Agency, Mr.Tajudeen Jimoh stated this while speaking at the inter-ministerial press briefing, organized by the State Ministry of Communications in Ilorin.
He said the mandate of the Agency which is to register all Kwara State residents is anchored on the target of registering three million Kwarans based on projections from the last population census, which puts the population of the State at 2.3 million as at 2006.
Mr. Jimoh highlighted the successes of the Agency for the period under review to include: registration of all civil servants and allocation of registration centres across the sixteen Local Government Areas of the State, among others.
The Acting General Manager also disclosed plans by the Agency to open up the registration to all residents soon.
He explained that the figure of those registered is expected to rise sharply adding that more residents have embrace the online registration option.
Mr Jimoh noted that the registration will ensure adequate planning, economic development and social inclusion in the State.
He said those who have activated the account associated with the registration have started making use of it for different financial transactions.
