Kwara State government has called on healthcare workers to imbibe a high sense of professionalism in the discharge of their duties to boost the confidence of citizens in public health facilities.
The Executive Secretary, Kwara State Hospital Management Board, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, stated this during a routine inspection exercise at the Dr. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari’s Mother and Child Hospital in Ilorin .
Dr. Malik who was represented by the Director of Medical Services and Training, Dr. Femi Joseph, stressed the need for staff in the laboratory to adhere strictly to the ethics of their profession and conform with best international practices.
According to him, accurate and reliable diagnosis is key in healthcare.
He reiterated the Board’s resolve to ensure that health workers bring to bear the ethics of the profession while administering healthcare services to patients.
Dr. Malik appealed to the medical experts to handle the facilities of the hospital with care, and imbibe high-maintenance culture.
He urged the staff to be punctual to their duties at all times adding that undue lateness to work could be detrimental to the health of patients.
In her response, the Matron of the hospital, Mrs Bashira Kamaldeen promised to give the best care to patients at all times.
