Over seventy three thousand text books Instructional materials and sport kits have been distributed by Kwara state government to pupils of primary and junior secondary schools across the state.
Speaking at the Flagg -off of the distributionpl in Ilorin, governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq said others items to be distributed included twelve thousand seven hundred and eighty primary assorted libraries, one hundred pieces of special education materials, two hundred and sixty sets of Early Childhood Care, Development and Education among others.
Represented by the state the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajiya Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, governor AbdulRazaq said the programme is another series of interventions by the administration that reflects its higher priority and commitment to basic education in the state.
According to him it is the administration’s belief that investments would make the menace of out-of-school children a thing of the past in the state.

Governor AbdulRazaq explained that the free distribution of textbooks was basically to lessen the burden on the parents amid the high cost of instructional materials in the markets.
On his part, the Chairman, Kwara state House Committee on Education, Muhammed Boriya, described the event as another historic moment in the development of basic education in the state.
He maintained that the state has now moved from the ugly past of yesteryears, adding that a lot of gaps have been filled in several sectors.
In his remarks the Chairman, Kwara state Universal Basic education Board SUBEB, Professor Shehu Adaramaja, said the distribution of the materials and sporting kits will provide quality education and promote holistic development in the school children.
