Vice President Kashim Shettima has emphasized the need to leverage the potential of the nation’s ocean resources to create new opportunities for prosperity.
The Vice President stated this at the inauguration of the participants of Senior Executive Course 47 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies NIPSS Kuru.
The Vice President who said the potential of the country’s blue economy was hugely untapped, stressed the need for it to be harnessed responsibly and ensure the ecosystem is preserved for sustainable growth.
Vice President Shettima represented by the Plateau state Deputy Governor, Josephine Piyo noted the collective responsibility of scholars and policy makers to research and understanding the blue economy towards developing strategies that would promote sustainable growth.
Earlier, the Director General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies NIPSS, Professor Ayo Omotayo explained that soon, the records of what the institute has achieved since it’s establishment would be available online for the public to accessed.
A total of 97 participants were administered aoth of inauguration by Plateau state Chief judge, Justice David Mann.
The theme for the senior executive course 47 is Blue economy and sustainable development: Issues, Challenges and opportunities.
