Former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina, has denied ever being a signatory to any pension fund accounts in Nigeria.
Maina spoke while receiving the Rule of Law and Courage Award from the Garki Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association in Abuja, claiming that he has faced years of persecution, intimidation, and attempts on his life due to his anti-corruption work.
He alleged that he helped recover $1.3 trillion in public funds and additional assets worth $88 billion for Nigeria, but faced pressure and threats instead of recognition.
Maina also claimed that his family suffered as a result of his stance, citing attacks and harassment against his son.
The Garki NBA honoured Maina for his dedication to public service, courage, and commitment to the rule of law and pension reforms in Nigeria.
