Muslims have been urged to increase water and fruits intake during the period of Ramadan fast to improve body nutrient.
A medical expert at the University of Ilorin, Professor AbdulRahman Afolabi made the call while speaking with newsmen in Ilorin, Kwara state.
He said during fasting and couple with the intense heat being experienced body fluid is gradually reduced.
According to him increase intake of various fruits would be of greate benefit to the fasting Muslim.
Professor Afolabi explained that during Ramadan fast muslims abstain from food and drink, denying their bodies the usual intake of nutrients.
He recommended increase consumption of fruits such as watermelon, carrots, and oranges to restore electrolyte balance in the body.
Professor Afolabi maintained that incorporating fruits into our diet can provide a natural source of energy, essential nutrients and hydration to keep the body active and nourished during Ramadan period.
