Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, says his administration will not tolerate financial recklessness in local government administration.
Governor Sule made the declaration while receiving the report of a four-man committee investigating the inability of local government councils to pay staff salaries and other entitlements.
The committee was constituted on January 8, 2021, to ensure accountability and due process in local governance.
Presenting the report, Committee Chairman Mr Ishaya Awotu said several irregularities were discovered, including duplication of staff names, ghost workers, multiple personnel numbers, and payment vouchers that did not comply with financial regulations.
Governor Sule explained that the committee was not set up to witch-hunt anyone, but to restore sanity and strengthen local government administration.
He assured that the recommendations would be carefully studied for possible implementation to create a more robust and productive system.
