The Nasarawa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening health facilities across the state by providing funds and infrastructure to improve service delivery.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Gaza Gwamna, made this known during the presentation of hospital equipment worth millions of naira to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, FUTH, Lafia.
Dr Gwamna explained that the intervention aims to address the shortage of essential medical equipment, which often forces patients to travel outside the state for healthcare services.
The Chief Medical Director of FUTH, Dr Hassan Ikrama, described the donation as a major boost that will enhance the hospital’s capacity to deliver quality healthcare, particularly highlighting the dialysis machines that will ease patients’ access to treatment.
Other items presented include equipment for the Lafia Infectious Diseases Diagnostic and Research Development Centre.
Dr Gwamna assured that the state government will continue to support the hospital to effectively carry out its core mandates of service delivery, research, and training.
