The Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kogi State Chapter, Comrade Stella Edoka, has called on government, institutions and individuals to promote policies that empower women and protect the rights of girls.
In a statement to mark the 2026 International Women’s Day, Edoka urged stakeholders to embrace the theme, “Give to Gain,” by investing in the welfare, education and development of women and girls.
She said empowering women would generate social and economic benefits for families, communities and the nation.

The NAWOJ chairperson also noted that despite challenges such as gender inequality and limited access to opportunities, women continue to make significant contributions to national development.
Edoka stressed the need for stronger policies and programmes that promote the safety, welfare and empowerment of women and girls.
She also encouraged women to support one another through mentorship and unity while continuing to contribute to community development.
