The Federal government has pledged to collaborate with well- meaning organisations willing to empower Women and youths to improve the nation’s gross domestic growth.
The Director General Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development Asabe Bashir made this known at the graduation of about hundred students trained on bags making by a private organisation in collaboration with the United Nation’s Development Program, UNDP.
Mrs Bashir who said government intervention through the centre alone cannot provide adequate training to the teaming population, sought the support of private public partnership to grow the economy in line with president bola Tinubu;s renewed hope agenda
The Resident Representative of UNDP in Nigeria Ms Elsie Attafuah said UNDP was committed to ensure that Africa though the smallest continent was empowered to take it’s stand among the comity of nation’s through small and medium scale enterprises.
The convener of the program and the Director General of the Privately owned training academy Mrs Chinwe Ezenwa who explained that every Nigerian including people with disabilities deserve equal opportunity to show case their talents applauded two of the participants who were with disability for their outstanding performance during the training.
Some of the beneficiaries of the training programme expressed gratitude to the organisers of the event and stressed that they would utilise the knowledge acquired to be job creators rather than job seekers.
The six months training encompasses women, youths and persons with disability and was graced by dignitaries including the former minister of women affairs Dame Pauline Talen, DG SMEDAN and other relevant Stakeholders in the sector.
