Super Eagles captain, Wilfred Ndidi, is mourning the loss of his father, Sunday Ndidi, who tragically passed away on Tuesday in a road accident in Umunede, Delta State.
In an emotional Instagram post, Ndidi reflected on their last phone conversation, expressing deep sorrow as he realized that their final chat was a goodbye.
He shared, “Eeraq, you called me with excitement in your voice, but deep down, you were saying goodbye… What about the things we talked about? So, we won’t talk again? Only memories?”
Ndidi also paid tribute to his father by recalling how he dedicated his first goal for Nigeria to him, celebrating with the “Papilo dance,” inspired by Sunday Ndidi’s admiration for former Super Eagles captain, Kanu Nwankwo.
His club, Besiktas, confirmed the tragic news, expressing condolences and praying for mercy for the deceased.
They also extended their sympathy to Ndidi and his family during this difficult time.
