President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to promoting peace and stability across Africa, despite prevailing security challenges on the continent.
The President made the pledge during a bilateral meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye in Ankara, as part of his State Visit to the country.
President Tinubu commended President Erdoğan for Türkiye’s contributions to global peace efforts, particularly in Somalia.
He stressed that peace and stability remain a central focus of his administration.
At the end of the bilateral talks, officials of both countries exchanged nine cooperation agreements covering defence, diaspora policy, trade and economic relations, education, media and communication, higher education, halal quality infrastructure, diplomacy training, and social services, including women affairs.

In his remarks, President Erdoğan reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to achieving a five billion dollar trade volume with Nigeria, noting that discussions toward the target are already underway.
He said the establishment of a Joint Economy and Trade Committee would expand cooperation and create more opportunities for Turkish investments in Nigeria.
