The One Division of the Nigerian Army has conducted a regimental funeral ceremony for its late Mascot, Sergeant Dalet Danfari Akawala, at the Division’s headquarters complex in Kaduna State.
A statement signed by the acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, One Division, Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya says the solemn funeral was presided over by Colonel Akabike, who represented the General Officer Commanding the Division, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso.
According to the statement, Colonel Akabike emphasizes the importance of honouring the life and service of the mascot, describing it as an integral part of the Division’s tradition and rich cultural heritage.

According to him, Late Sergeant Dalet Danfari Akawala served the Division with dedication and loyalty, embodying the spirit of courage and resilience.
“Today’s ceremony is our way of paying the last respect to a companion who brought pride and identity to the Division”

The statement extends condolences to the entire stallion family and the Nigerian Army, expressing regret over the loss.
