The Nigeria Labour Congress has expressed shock and deep sorrow over the death of the father of its immediate past President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba.
Mallam Jidayi Filibus Asarya Wabba, the District Head of Sabongari-Puba in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, died at the age of ninety.
In a statement, the NLC describes the late traditional ruler as a disciplined elder statesman, a devout Christian, and a patriot who served the nation meritoriously in the Nigerian Army for thirty-five years before retiring to private life.
According to the statement, the late Mallam Wabba is survived by his wife, eleven children, and twenty-six grandchildren.
It adds that the Burial arrangements have been announced for Saturday, the seventeenth of January, 2026, in his hometown, Sabongari-Puba, Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
“The burial ceremony is scheduled for ten o’clock in the morning.
Among his children is Comrade Ayuba Wabba, former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress and former President of the International Trade Union Confederation.
The statement prays God to rest his soul.
