Leaders at all levels have been urged to embrace value-based leadership skills to enhance decision-making and promote good governance in Nigeria.
The call was made by the Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Limam, during the institution’s 57th inaugural lecture in Keffi, themed: “Value-Based Leadership Styles: Modeling and Theorizing the Dynamics of Governance in Nigeria.”
Professor Abdullahi Mohammed Yamma, delivering the lecture, emphasized that Nigeria can achieve effective leadership only when leaders demonstrate patriotism, accountability, and exemplary conduct in both words and actions.
He highlighted the importance of responsible followership, noting that active citizens who demand transparency and accountability compel leaders to perform better, while weak followership enables corruption and authoritarianism.
The lecture provided practical models and styles of leadership aimed at inspiring leaders and followers alike to contribute positively to national development.
Professor Limam encouraged Nigerian leaders to study the lecture materials to strengthen their governance skills and promote societal progress.
