The Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) Mr Shamseldeen Ogunjimi has cautioned Ministries, Departments and Agencies not to spend above their budgetary allocation.
He made this known at a Capacity Building Workshop on International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) for Accountants and Auditors in Nasarawa State.
Represented by the Acting Director, Consolidated Accounts Department in his Office, Mr Shaibu Sikiru, Mr Ogunjimi urged Auditors and Accountants to promote
Prudence and avoid being sanctioned.
Mr Ogunjimi explained that grants, donations received from donor agencies, outside budgetary provision must be declared.
” Voucher should be raised from budget expenditure in accordance with the financial statement of the Agency” he stated.
The Director General of the National Productivity Centre, Mr Baffa Dan Agundi called on the participants of the programme to acquaint themselves with the required skills in keeping records.
Mr Agundi said the workshop became necessary to upskill the knowledge Auditors and Accountants on budget preparation.
Participants of the programme promised to promote corrupt-free accounting practice in their MDAs.
