Ondo State will celebrate its 50th anniversary by honouring the late General Murtala Mohammed, whose government created the state on February 3, 1976, alongside other founding fathers who contributed to its establishment.
Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa, speaking at a press conference in Akure, explained that the anniversary will also recognise individuals such as Pa Reuben Fasoranti and Chief Sehinde Arogbofa for their foresight and selfless service in shaping the state.
The Governor emphasized that his administration is committed to building lasting legacies and implementing development-driven projects to strengthen Ondo’s economy.

He highlighted ongoing efforts to industrialise the state through initiatives such as a deep seaport, petrochemical industries, and urban renewal projects.
Governor Ayedatiwa stressed the importance of harnessing the state’s abundant natural resources to drive sustainable economic growth and improve citizens’ livelihoods.
Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, Chairman of the 50th Anniversary Planning Committee, outlined plans for the celebrations, which will include an award ceremony, public lecture, health walk, and religious thanksgiving services to showcase Ondo State’s rich culture and traditions.

The anniversary aims to reinforce the state’s commitment to good governance, strategic development, and the preservation of its historical and cultural heritage.
