The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has again reiterated his commitment to uphold fairness and equity among all religious groups in order to promote peaceful co-existence, tranquility and harmony in the State.
The Governor stated this while receiving the Traditional Religious Worshippers Association, Osun State Chapter ,who paid him a courtesy visit at his office, State Secretariat, Osogbo.
He noted that he has been fulfilling his promise by declaring public holidays for celebration of “Isese Day” as it is been done for the other two religions in the State.
While emphasizing that his administration recognizes the importance of engaging with traditional institutions, leveraging on their beliefs and practices to address the challenges facing the communities, Governor Adeleke said his government is committed to continually support initiatives that promote cultural heritage and development.
He explained further that government is envisaging contributing immensely towards the building of Traditional Worshippers main Auditorium/Worship Centre, as he promised them of many good things in order to foster belongingness and peaceful co-existence with the TRAWSO.
The Governor urged them to continue to promote the values of tolerance, respect and peaceful co-existence and work together to build a brighter future for their children and generations to come.
Earlier, the President, Traditional Religion Worshippers Association, TRAWSO, Dr. Oluseyi Atanda appreciated God for giving the Governor the wisdom to pilot the affairs of the state.
He said within two years of his administration, the Governor has taken the state to an enviable height with the infrastructural development, like construction and rehabilitation of roads across the State, provision of health care facilities in all the primary health care centre, regular payment of workers salaries and pensions, among others.
Dr. Atanda urged government to key into the resuscitation and development of all tourists sites in Osun, saying those sites can generate fifty percent of the internally generated revenue for the State.
