In a brazen attempt to disrupt the normal functioning of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP activities, Emmanuel Okoronkwo, an aide to the ousted National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, led thugs and blocked the entrance of the party’s national headquarters.
The move was to stop the National Working Committee members from entering their offices.
However, the efforts of the alleged thugs were thwarted as staffers, other Party members and security operatives, promptly intervened and the assailants were arrested.
This incident is the latest development in the ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP, which has seen Senator Samuel Anyanwu laying claim to the position of national secretary, after an appeal court in Enugu removed him.
A faction of the party has, however stutly been rejecting Senator Anyanwu’s claims, stating that he has no legal basis to occupy the office.
Meanwhile the PDP NWC has met, outcome of which is being expected.
