The Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, has expressed alarm over the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, by President Bola Tinubu.
This is contained in a statement signed by the National spokesman for PANDEF, Obiuwevbi Ominimini, in Abuja.
The statement says the group is studying the situation and will make its position known very soon.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had on Tuesday night declared a state of emergency in Rivers state in a national broadcast, where he announced the suspension of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, the Deputy Governor, Ngozi Odu, and members of the state House of Assembly.
President Tinubu also appointed retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas as the administrator of the state.
