The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has condemned the recent bandit attack on Woro town in Kaiama Local Government Area, describing it as a brutal and inhumane act.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, the party urged the State Government to go beyond symbolic statements and immediately provide humanitarian aid, relief materials and medical assistance to victims and the affected community.
The PDP criticized the official response from Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, calling it insufficient and lacking practical reassurance for the wounded and displaced.
It stressed the need for decisive, people-oriented leadership to tackle insurgency and banditry in the State.
The party also called on security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure justice is served.
Reports indicate that more than ten people, mostly youths, including a former tertiary Students’ Union President, were killed during the attack, and several homes were set ablaze.
The PDP extended condolences to the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Omar Shehu Muazu, and the bereaved families.
The incident highlights the urgent need for strengthened security measures and responsive governance to protect vulnerable communities in Kwara State.
