The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reaffirmed its decision to zone its presidential ticket to the southern part of the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Factional National Chairman of the party, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Abuja after a meeting with former Vice President, Mohammed Namadi Sambo.
Turaki said although the party is yet to decide who will emerge as its presidential candidate, it is clear on those who will not be allowed to fly the party’s flag in 2027.
He explained that the PDP is committed to a transparent, fair and inclusive process that will give all qualified members from the southern part of the country equal opportunity to contest.
According to him, the party is repositioning itself as a credible platform for Nigerians and is determined to return to its winning ways in future elections, beginning with upcoming off-season polls.
Turaki also welcomed the Federal High Court judgement which dismissed a suit filed by the party’s former National Secretary, describing it as a vindication of the party’s leadership and internal democratic processes.
He assured party members and Nigerians that the PDP remains united, focused, and committed to building a strong opposition capable of offering Nigerians a better alternative in 2027.
