The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man for allegedly attempting to supply explosive materials to bandits operating in the state.
The suspect, identified as Mustapha Mohammad, was apprehended on January 27, 2027, at about 4:15 p.m. by operatives of the Task Force on Illegal Mining, following credible intelligence. ASP Aminu Aliyu led the operation.
Police say the suspect was intercepted while driving a Toyota Corolla with registration number KUJ 933 EJ. A search of the vehicle uncovered 954 pieces of suspected explosive materials hidden in polyethylene bags.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the materials were intended for use by bandits as improvised explosive devices, a development described by authorities as a serious security threat.

The suspect remains in police custody, while the explosives have been secured and handed over to the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit for proper handling and analysis.
Investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the explosives, their intended destination, and to identify other individuals connected to the crime.
