The Police Service Commission, PSC, and the Nigeria Police Force have extended the deadline for applications into the Nigeria Police Force Constable cadre by two weeks.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs of the PSC, Mr. Torty Kalu, said the online application portal, which opened on December 15 and was initially scheduled to close on January 26, will now close on February 8.
He explained that the extension followed the receipt of over 400,000 applications, with a review showing significant disparities in participation across states.
According to him, states such as Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded high numbers of applicants, while Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra had relatively low submissions.
Mr. Kalu said the extension is aimed at ensuring equitable representation nationwide and urged eligible Nigerians, especially from states with low application rates, to apply through the official portal.
He also called on state and local governments, community leaders, and other stakeholders to mobilise and sensitise qualified youths to take advantage of the extension.
The PSC reaffirmed its commitment, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, to a fair and transparent recruitment process.
