The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says Party Primaries for all the registered Political parties fielding Candidates for the Governorship election in Anambra State later this year will commence from the 20th of March to 14th April.
INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu stated this in Abuja during a meeting with the leaders of Political Parties.
Professor Yakubu urged them to forward the schedule for their activities to INEC for them to work together and plan better for the deployment of personnel and resources to monitor their Party Primaries and Campaign Activities.
The time table and schedule of activities for the Anambra State Governorship election was released last year by INEC.
Similarly, Professor Yakubu said that Area Council Election in the Federal Capital Territory will take place on the 21st of February next year.
The INEC boss said that voting would take place in all the designated polling units across the 68 Constituencies to elect six Area Council Chairmen and 62 Councillors.
He also said that the Commission would soon come up with plans for Continuous Voter Registration and conduct of outstanding bye elections.
The INEC boss also welcome back the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure to the fold of National Chairmen of political Parties in Nigeria
In a remark, the National Chairman, Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC , Alhaji Yusuf Dantalle urged the Commission to commence early preparations towards conducting acceptable and transparent general election in 2027.
