President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described the re-election of the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr. Dele Alake, as Chairman of the Africa Minerals Strategic Group, AMSG, as a clear vote of confidence in his visionary leadership, commitment and strategic advocacy for Africa’s minerals sector.
This is contained in a congratulatory message signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy Bayo Onanuga in Abuja.
The statement says under Mr. Alake’s chairmanship, the Africa Minerals Strategic Group has continued to provide a strong and united voice for African countries in advancing cooperation, safeguarding mineral resources, and positioning the continent as a major player in the global energy transition and critical minerals value chain.
“I congratulate Dele Alake for sustaining the confidence and trust of his colleagues across Africa. His pan-African vision and commitment to ensuring our continent derives the greatest benefits from its mineral resources are commendable” the President states.
It commends the Minister for aligning the objectives of the group with Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in unlocking the nation’s vast solid minerals potential, attracting sustainable investment, creating jobs and ensuring that mineral wealth translates into tangible socio-economic benefits for Africans.
“As Nigeria’s Minister of Solid Minerals, he has led reforms that are transforming the sector into a major contributor to our national economy.”
According to the statement, the President also assures the Minister of the Federal Government’s continued support as he leads the group in deepening cooperation among African nations and promoting transparency, sustainability and inclusiveness in the minerals sector.
According to the statement, Dr. Alake was first elected Chairman of the group in 2024 on the sidelines of the Future Minerals Forum and was re-elected at the 2026 Annual General Meeting held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
