President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON.
The appointment, which replaces Professor Abdullahi Usman who recently resigned after 14 months in office, is subject to confirmation by the Senate in line with the NAHCON Act of 2006.
In a letter to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, the President requested the expeditious consideration and approval of Ambassador Yusuf’s nomination.
Ambassador Yusuf is a seasoned Nigerian career diplomat, having served as Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Türkiye from 2021 to 2024.
The nomination is expected to provide leadership continuity at NAHCON as the commission prepares for the next Hajj season, ensuring effective coordination and support for Nigerian pilgrims.
