President Bola Tinubu experienced a brief stumble during a ceremonial march-past organized for his reception in Turkey on Tuesday.
The incident occurred as the President joined the guard of honour with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The stumble drew brief attention, but the event continued without disruption, and the President was quickly assisted by his security team.
The reception, which took place at 5:00 pm local time, included the playing of both nations’ national anthems and a 21-gun salute.
Following the ceremony, both leaders held a closed-door bilateral meeting to discuss strategic national matters.
This visit is Tinubu’s first official trip to Turkey, marking a reciprocal engagement following President Erdoğan’s visit to Nigeria in 2021.
The trip aims to strengthen the long-standing relations between Nigeria and Turkey and explore new areas of cooperation in finance, trade, energy, and military affairs.
A business forum is also expected to take place, connecting Nigerian and Turkish investors.
Senior Nigerian officials, including the Attorney-General, the Minister of Finance, and the Minister of Defence, welcomed the President in Turkey.
