Former Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has called on the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, and other regional bodies to use their influence to promote national unity, accountability, and good governance across Nigeria.
Prince Adebayo made the call when he led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the ACF Secretariat in Abuja,

According to him, the visit was not politically motivated but part of ongoing consultations with key stakeholders committed to building a better Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections.
He commended the Forum for its long-standing role in fostering national dialogue and stability.
He described the ACF as a “fallback institution” that has provided leadership during crucial moments in Nigeria’s history.
“Northern Nigeria is not for Northerners alone; it is the crown jewel of the Nigerian state,” he said.

“The journey to nationhood started in 1914, and there’s no reverse gear in the vehicle of Nigeria—it’s a train moving forward.”
Prince Adebayo lamented what he termed “episodic governance,” where development projects are abandoned by successive administrations.
He urged regional groups such as Afenifere, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, and the Middle Belt Forum to work together in promoting unity and national cohesion.
“If we understand the North well in politics, and if the North understands us, we will solve most of Nigeria’s problems. Religion should not determine our humanity or our opportunities,” he said.
The former SDP flag bearer also emphasized the need to empower young Nigerians, pledging that his brand of politics would be inclusive and service-oriented.
“The politics we will do will leave no one behind. It won’t be based on origin but on accountability. We will give a government that is incorruptible and focused on service delivery,” he added.
Responding, the Chairman of the ACF Board of Trustees, Alhaji Bashir Mohammed Dalhatu, praised Prince Adebayo’s passion for unity and national development.
“Your name has gone far and wide, and your desire for nation-building is well known,” he said. “The ACF was established 25 years ago to promote the social, cultural, and economic interests of the North within the context of a united Nigeria. We are first and foremost Nigerians, and then Northern Nigerians.”
He noted that the Forum values engagements with political leaders and reform-minded Nigerians on issues such as insecurity, unemployment, and education, stressing that such discussions are vital to national progress.
Alhaji Dalhatu also announced that the ACF will mark its 25th anniversary in Kaduna, inviting Prince Adebayo to participate in the celebrations.
“We are open and transparent and will continue to promote brotherhood across Nigeria. God bless you and God bless our country,” he concluded.
