The All Progressives Congress, APC, has criticized former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, over his recent remarks about the ruling party.
This is contained in a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, in Abuja.
The statement dismisses El-Rufai’s claims that the APC had deviated from its founding progressive ideals.
It describes his comments as grudge-laden tirades fueled by his failure to secure a ministerial appointment under President Bola Tinubu.
The statement accuses him of acting out of personal disappointment rather than genuine concern for Nigeria’s political direction.
It observes that El-Rufai, once a vocal critic of self-serving politicians, had now become the very thing he once denounced.
According to him, El-Rufai’s claim that President Tinubu had failed, the APC labeled it as outrageous, and a gross distortion of reality.
It lists several economic achievements under Tinubu’s leadership, including the removal of fuel subsidy, which has saved Nigeria an estimated ₦4 trillion annually as well as unification of exchange rates, which has led to increased foreign exchange inflow and stronger foreign reserves.
The statement adds that Tinubu’s economic diplomacy has also attracted significant foreign direct investments, while the oil sector reforms have resulted in an increase in crude oil exports to 1.8 million barrels per day.
