Delta State Government says it has awarded and completed many road projects across the twenty five local government areas of the state.
Briefing newsmen in Asaba, the State Commissioner for Public Information and Rural Roads, Mr Charles Aniagwu hinted that one billion naira was expended last year on projects in each of the twenty five local government areas of the state to ensure that no part of the state was left out.
He said in 2025 budget already signed into law, two point one billion naira was budgeted for infrastructural projects in each local government area.
According to Aniagwu, the Obi-Ibabu road in Ndokwa axis of the state which is over four kilometers has been completed, and awaiting inauguration.
He said the Beneku bridge had also been completed and that the Ndemili-Utagba Uno road and the Eweshi – Utagba-Uno roads construction were being pursued.
Mr Aniagwu stated further that the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori had awarded the construction of Asaba – Ase bridge in Ndokwa East linking Uzere in Isoko South .
He stated that a road in Amai in Aboh, headquarters of Ndokwa East local government area awarded by the Delta State Government had progressed to stone base stage.
The Delta State Commissioner for Public Information and Rural Roads who warned that the state government would not condone any shoddy project execution , said two engineers in the ministry of works were suspended few days ago over poor supervision of projects.
He said Governor Oborevwori had directed that every Commissioner must supervise their projects critically to ensure that Delta had value for money spent on projects.
For those grabbing government lands across the state, Mr Aniagwu warned that government would not hesitate to demolish structures built on such public lands and make them pay for whatever cost incurred in demolition exercise .
