The Social Democratic Party, SDP, has called on the Nigerian Police and anti-graft agencies to fast-track investigations into alleged financial misconduct involving its former National Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam.
This is contained in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Rufus Aiyenigba in Abuja.
The statement says Gabam was expelled on October 23rd, 2025, over what it describes as“well-documented violations” of the SDP Constitution and Nigeria’s economic and financial crime laws.
According to the statement, the former chairman has been moving from one elder statesman to another, seeking intervention as investigations deepen.
It also alleges that Gabam has been using mobilised funds to influence a few former state chairmen in an effort to shore up support.
The statement warns party members against associating with activities that could make them accessories after the fact, stressing that Gabam remains under investigation for established financial offences.
The SDP has urges the Inspector-General of Police to conclude the matter quickly, following a fresh petition submitted to the Anti-Money Laundering Enforcement Department on November 13th.
The statement also appeals to national figures reportedly approached by Gabam to be cautious so as not to be drawn into what it calls “a web of crisis.”
According to the statement, the SDP says it is confident that the police and anti-graft agencies will ensure justice is served and that all allegedly misappropriated party funds are recovered.
