The Acting National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Dr. Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe, has called for policy choices that prioritise economic justice, national security, and inclusive development in Nigeria.
This is contained in his Christmas and New Year message to Nigerians, signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Araba Rufus Aiyenigba in Abuja.
According to the statement, Dr. Abubakar Gombe notes that the country’s current economic challenges and insecurity underscore the need for people-centred policies that address the welfare and dignity of citizens.
It stresses that beyond rhetoric, governance must be anchored on deliberate economic revitalisation, social protection, and sustainable development strategies capable of easing hardship and restoring public confidence.
The statement says the party is undergoing internal reforms aimed at strengthening its organisational structures and policy direction, positioning it to offer credible alternatives focused on growth, equity, and national cohesion.
According to the statement Dr. Gombe also urges the Federal Government, the National Assembly, and political leaders at all levels to commit to policies that promote mass economic empowerment, social justice, and accountable leadership.
The statement further calls for unity of purpose and civic responsibility among Nigerians, while praying for wisdom for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to pursue policies that will leave a positive and enduring legacy for the nation.
